Student Current Series

Noticing-God-Front-Page-Header

A new series starts Sunday, April 7 called Noticing God. It focuses on utilizing simple exercises and practices that open our spiritual eyes to see God working in everyday circumstances. God is at work all the time and I want to be a part of it.

This series has a family component and I ask you to commit to having spiritual conversations with your student using the tools that I am providing. These can be scary conversations because students see our mistakes and know we aren’t perfect; but fear is from Satan and He loves to scare parents away from spiritual conversations with their kids. Perhaps God will not only change your students' life but your life as well through the conversations. I will be praying for you to step up to the plate.

Giving At Eastside

Just as you excel in everything else—in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in complete earnestness . . .
see that you also excel in this grace of giving.” 2 Corinthians 8:7 NIV

The Grace of Giving

Why does God want you to excel in the grace of giving? It’s because he influences the world through His people. God gives to you so he can give through you. The Bible tells us that everything we have is a gift from God (1 Chronicles 29:14). As you give both faithfully and faith-fully, the world is changed for the glory of God: the gospel is preached, lives are touched, people are fed, bodies are healed, churches are built; and you, in turn, are blessed by God.

Tithes & Offerings

What is a tithe and how is it different from an offering? The word, “tithe” literally means a tenth or 10%. A tithe is the first 10% of your income. An offering is anything you give above and beyond the 10%.

Why do we tithe? The Bible says, The purpose of tithing is to teach you always to put God first in your lives. (Deuteronomy 14:23 TLB) Tithing is a reminder that God is the supplier of everything we have. It is also God’s personal invitation to an outpouring of his blessing in your life.

In Malachi 3:10 (NLT), God says this: “Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this," says the LORD Almighty, "and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.” This is the only place in Scripture where God tells us to put him to the test. In other words, he’s saying, “Go ahead. I dare you. See if you can out-give me.”

Is God wise? Do you trust him? These are two fundamental questions behind the act of giving. If God is wise, then you should listen to what he says about financial stewardship. If you trust him, then you should trust him with all aspects of your life, including your finances. So go ahead. Accept God’s invitation to put him to the test. Start tithing faithfully and watch what he does in and through your life.

Thanks for checking out the student ministry page. Take a few minutes to look around and learn more about the ministry.

Everyone is welcome. No one is perfect. Anything is possible.

Why bother?
You were created to worship something bigger than yourself and to live in a community built on trust. We want to give you the clearest picture of who God is, what you can expect of Him, who you are and what He expects of you.

What We Do:

Middle-SchoolersWe do a few things and try to do them really well.

OneWorship service is our weekly big group gathering time. One Worship is the name of the service and it is designed for 6th-12th grade students. Each week we have worship, teaching and small group. Don’t worry, you will not be forced to play any cheesy games.

Small Groups. Small groups meet every Sunday morning right after the teaching at OneWorship service. Each small group has an awesome leader who loves students and desires to walk alongside them for these difficult years. Small groups also do things together outside of Sunday morning. Small group events are designed and led by the individual small group leaders (ie: one group may go paintballing and another may decide to meet up for ice cream).

Events. Our philosophy is to not be event-driven and to not overload the calendar. At the same time, intentional big group events help us accomplish our mission: to reach students and lead them to become fully-devoted followers of Jesus Christ.  Check out the Student Events page for more info.

Sundays at 9am & 11am

We love our kids and our families here at Eastside Community. We have some incredible ministries designed to help kids learn about God in environments that are full of interaction, creativity, community and safety. We want everyone to know God’s big story of redemption through Jesus Christ and where each one fits into His plan. Our desire in AdventureKidz is to pour into your child’s life, and partner with you, the parents, and cheer you on as you help them become fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ. No one will have more influence on your child than you! We hope to partner with you from the very beginning.

Where do I take my kids when I arrive at ECC?

We have an age appropriate environment open during each worship service for babies thru 5th grade. If you have children you’d like to check in to one of our environments, Guest Services volunteers will direct you to the children’s area, where another volunteer will help you check in your kids and get them to their proper classrooms. Environments open 10 minutes prior to service times.

Then what do I do?

After dropping off your kids, you’ll head into the auditorium. Someone will hand you a worship folder at the door with information on the church and on our upcoming events. Feel free to ask them any questions. They are there to help.

What about my child’s safety and security?
All volunteers in AdventureKidz are required to fill out an application and undergo a background screening prior to serving. Volunteers also attend various training events in order to ensure that they are familiar with proper safety and emergency procedures. All children are given a nametag with their name, pertinent health information (such as allergies), and a randomly generated code. This code matches the label given to the parent. If any issues should arise with a child, the parent will be paged by a posting of this code on the main service screens. The parent label is required for pick up of the child.

Can I Pre-Register my child before our first visit to save time?

If you are new to Eastside, you can fill out the form below to speed up your check-in time this Sunday. All you need to do is fill this out prior to Friday at 3pm and our staff will enter your child(ren)s information into our database. When you arrive next Sunday and check-in your kids, our team members can access your information by your last name.

Children are very important to us at ECC. We strive to provide a safe and nurturing environment in which families can worship and grow. Therefore, we require all parents to provide information on their children in order for us to appropriately minister to families. This information is updated on a regular basis. Please note that your information will remain confidential.

What if I still have questions?
